Shoe Care Guide

Shoe Care Guide

At Apolo, we believe that a quality pair of shoes is more than just footwear—it’s an investment in comfort, style, and confidence. With proper care, your shoes will maintain their appearance and durability for years to come. This guide provides practical advice to help you keep your footwear in excellent condition.

General Daily Care

  • Clean your shoes regularly using a soft brush or cloth to remove dust and dirt.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or excessive heat, as this may cause fading, cracking, or warping.

  • If your shoes become wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Never use a hair dryer, radiator, or direct heat source.

  • Rotate between different pairs of shoes whenever possible. This allows each pair to air out and helps extend its lifespan.

  • Use shoe trees or stuff your shoes with paper after wearing them to help maintain their shape.

Caring for Different Materials

Leather Shoes

  • Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth after use.

  • Apply a quality leather conditioner or cream periodically to keep the leather soft and prevent cracking.

  • Polish when necessary to restore shine and protect the surface.

  • Avoid excessive exposure to water.

Suede & Nubuck

  • Use a suede brush to gently remove dirt and restore the texture.

  • Protect with a suede waterproofing spray before first use and reapply periodically.

  • Never use excessive water when cleaning suede or nubuck.

Canvas Shoes

  • Clean with mild soap, water, and a soft brush.

  • Allow to air dry completely before wearing again.

  • Avoid machine washing unless specifically recommended by the manufacturer.

Synthetic Materials

  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.

Cleaning Your Shoes

For routine maintenance:

  • Remove loose dirt with a soft brush.

  • Clean gently using a damp cloth and mild soap if needed.

  • Remove excess moisture with a dry towel.

  • Allow shoes to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area.

Never use bleach, abrasive cleaners, or strong solvents, as they may permanently damage the materials.

Sole Care

  • Regularly inspect the soles for excessive wear.

  • Remove stones or debris lodged in the tread.

  • Avoid walking on rough or abrasive surfaces whenever possible to maximize sole life.

Storage

  • Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

  • Keep shoes in their original box or a dust bag when not in use.

  • Avoid stacking heavy objects on top of your shoes.

  • Use shoe trees or tissue paper to help preserve their original shape during storage.

Extending the Life of Your Shoes

  • Rotate your footwear instead of wearing the same pair every day.

  • Clean stains as soon as possible before they become permanent.

  • Replace worn insoles or laces when necessary.

  • Consider professional cleaning or repair services for premium footwear to maintain its appearance.
